Top Ten

So it has been about a month since my last post...apologies, the main reason is that i keep forgetting to take my camera places. So I have been preparing for my departure on the 24th OCT, and I've been thinking about the States vs life here. Obviously there's a lot of differences but here are the TOP TEN things I will miss about this country most.

1) Seeing random animals, be it cows, donkey, dogs, elephants, camels, yaks, or horses roaming the streets

2) Uhhh- the food, especially aloo parantha (fried bread with potatos inside it), paneer (cheese), daal (lentils) adn butter naan(bread with butter smeared all over it!)

3) Cheap and AMAZING public transportation, albeit somewhat hazardous to one's persoznal safety...

4) Bucket Baths, and squatties...(those of you who haven't had to get into a routine of using either of these won't understand, but trust me, once you get used to using them, they're AMAZING!)

5) Chai

6) The Hospitality

7) Being able to buy 5kg (11lbs) worth of vegetables for $2 at a fresh open air market

8) BARGAINING!

9) Speaking to people in Hindi, to watch their faces light up and exclaim "your Hindi is SOOOOOOOOO good!" (it should be noted that all you really have to do to illicit this response is say "hello" in the national language)

10) Bicycle Rickshaws...they are my favorite form of transportation and with the GREAT weather we have these days, I like to ride in them even if it does take me say 30 minutes instead of the usual 10!!!!

I'm working on another top ten to post soon!

I totally agree with #7 - I'm going to be so shocked by the veggie prices when we're on stateside!
I love cycle rickshaws too... in our old town that's the only kind of rickshaws we had, and on Friday nights Adam and I would take one to teh market, get ice cream and ride back in one and with a little imagination it felt like a horse-drawn carriage or soemthing :) haha!

Haha horse-drawn carriages. I've never thought it them that way. :)
I love the hindi thing. It's so great to be in a culture that so well encourages language learners! Shabaash! :)
