South Asia is a very conservative region, and most places consider "western" clothes etc as less modest. Since I've been here I have bought a couple "Suits" as they are called. Salwar Kameez is the more traditional word for them. Although they all have the same basic shape-long shirt, pants and a scarf type thing, they can be VERY different. The biggest difference is in the pants.

The more traditional pants (pyjama) have pleats in the front and the back, then you can have half pleats- pleats just in the front, and then you have parallel- like regular pants. They're all really comfortable, and the one thing these pants have in common is that they all have HUGE waistlines that you tie with a drawstring.

When I say huge I mean you can easily fit two people in them, or a pregnant belly, or you could just gain 30lbs and not have to worry about buying new pants. I LOVE wearing suits because they really are like wearing pyjama's ALL the time. PLUS there's the added bonus of looking like you're a back up singer from and 80s MC Hammer music video.....duh duh duh duh duuuh duh Can't touch this! Here are a couple of pics of me sporting my cool new pants.

haha! And it's always an ego-booster to loosen the drawstring, hold the waistband out as far as it goes, and turn sideways. You will never fail to look like the "after" picture in a weight-loss ad. "I lost 50 lbs with Jenny Craig!"
Nice Becks! I can see you in your own Bollywood movie! All you need are some bangles...
