Ok....so because my internet connection is SUPER slow, I can't upload any pictures for right now. So in the meantime I will save this space for fun updates and stories.
While in Thailand we all hopped in a boat that took us to an island off the coast of Pattaya. The boat anchored offshore and we swam inland to the beach. A group of us walked to the other side of the island and decided to build a raft out of the bamboo and string that was wrecked on the shore. Admittedly this idea was probably a product of watching too many Survivor or Lost episodes. Regardless, we were extremely proud of the raft we had built, especially when it was tested and proven flotable under the weight of an actual person. Proud owners of this new raft we decided to walk it back over the island to our boat. Ignoring the strange stares from the locals, we placed the raft in the water and started swimming it back to our boat with an actual person afloat. While swimming back to the boat, I accidently kicked the bamboo and gouged my foot. oops! Ignoring the fact that my foot was in quite some pain we tied our raft to the boat and made everyone admire it. I have pictures that i will post as soon as posibble. Unfortunately our engineering skills were not as we initially thought and after a collision with a banana boat the raft was no more.
The second part of this story is my foot. When we got home that night it kind of hurt, so I put a band aid on it because band aids make everything better. Well in the morning my foot was NOT better, it was actually quite red and a tad painful. It took me a day to go find the nurse, and when I finally showed her my foot she said: "Beki let me tell you what I see. Those red lines under your skin are an infection. Your foot is infected...here put this antibiotic on it, if it spreads anymore, or you get a fever you have to go to the DR." Yes the infection had spread in a finger like pattern up my foot. Now before ANYONE freaks out and emails me about the risks of infection and gangrene etc. I must add that after a couple days of treatment of antibiotic, my foot it now fine. Needless to say Thailand was a blast.
