The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of starting to say good byes, planning logistics for our move and emotionally trying to cope with trying to uproot myself from a place I love. This week some friends came by to visit, and of course we took them to the Raj Mahal, the only decent restaurant in town (it's really the only restaurant in town, but thankfully it has good food). It was built in the 1800s when the British ruled, and was the Palace of the Maharaja (king/prince) of the district at that time. Since then the maharaja's family have turned the palace into a hotel and just kept a small part of it for living purposes. The maharajas of old, over the years have died out- mainly out of British rule, but before they would wear big turbans and swords and have wars over land- very fairy tale/ Jungle book. While we're on the topic of randomness, the English word Jungle, is actually taken from the Hindi word Jungle, which means wilderness area, whether forest, jungle, desolate mountains etc...
This picture is taken at the Raj mahal, with one of the old paintings scattered throughout the hotel, of one of the Maharaja's of late, more to come soon, on the random pictures of Nimda*.
