In honour of my mom coming to our new town we threw her a party and invited all of our neighbours to eat "American food". There was a little problem in that ALL of our neighbours are PURE vegetarian, which means, not only are they vegetarian, but they don't eat eggs! So that means, no cookies, cakes, potato salad etc.
We had to get creative, and came up w/ homemade vegetarian pizza, chips, bean salad, and an eggless oatmeal cake recipe that I have, and some candy from the States. A random concotion of food admittedly, but then when you come from a country like America, where our every social activity includes food, and most every meal contains meat, we did the best we could. The other difficulty came, when we found out that 4 of the ladies were fasting. Basically all the mothers were fasting that day. I'm not sure why, but that meant they could eat any of the food. 
Everyone who ate seemed to like the food pretty well. The one type of American food that they have here is Pizza, and they do it quite well, so they weren't too shocked when we made it for them! We're thinking of having a pizza party again for the girls to show them how to make it properly!
We sang and danced for them, and then in turn they danced and sang for us. I don't know if our neighbours had fun, but we sure did, and my momma was happy with her party!
